RESUMEN Nos proponemos aquí resaltar la aportación de las migraciones, tanto internas como internacionales al crecimiento urbano en las distintas fases históricas del proceso de metropolización. Nuestro enfoque parte de una hipótesis positiva en la que la inmigración, es comprendida como un elemento esencial de este fenómeno. El ejemplo de Barcelona es para este enfoque significativo, tanto desde el punto de vista económico como espacial. La relación entre la inmigración interna masiva i la industrialización extremadamente rápida de la época del desarrollismo ha sido demostrada. Desde esa época, la metropolización se ha perpetuado con nuevas formas i la inmigración se ha diversificado tanto en sus orígenes como en sus funciones, pero nos parece posible emitir la hipótesis de continuación de esta relación positiva inmigración/metropolización. ---- ABSTRACT The immigration contribution to the metropolization process: the case of Barcelona The aims of this paper is to underline the contribution of the migrations (internal and international) to the urban growth through the historical periods of the process of metropolization. This study is based on the positive hypothesis that the immigration is a primordial element of this process. For this study, the city of Barcelona constitutes a relevant example in the economic perspective as well as in the spatial dimension. The link between internal massive migration and the industrialization at the age of the "desarrollismo" was demonstrated in various studies. Since this period, the metropolization has followed its process and the immigration has been diversified, in origins and functions, and the author suggests that is viable proposition to presume the perpetuation of a positive relation between immigration and metropolization.
